The life history of Agaricus bisporus is divided into the mycelium stage and the fruit body stage. The fruit body is the mushroom body, which can be divided into the primordial stage, the bud stage and the mature stage.
Mycelium stage
After sowing, the white hyphae slowly spread and grow in the culture material until the whole culture material is densely covered. This stage is called the mycelium stage.
Primordial period
The mycelium forms a mycelium layer in the overlying soil and then twists into a white primordium the size of a rice grain, which is called the primordial stage. It usually appears about 15 days after covering.
Mushroom bud stage
The primordium continues to grow and become the shape of a bisporus mushroom, which is the bud stage. Generally, the primordium grows about 3 days after the formation.
Growth period
The period from the bud formation to the harvest of Agaricus bisporus is the growth period. It grows faster when the temperature is high, and grows slowly when the temperature is low.
